We’ve been told for decades that fat is the enemy.

We were told it clogs arteries, makes us gain weight, and should be feared in favor of “heart-healthy” whole grains and low-fat everything.

But here’s what the science — and my clinical experience — tells us now:
Your body was designed to thrive on fat.
Not just survive — thrive.

And when you become fat adapted, your metabolism unlocks a state of clarity, healing, and resilience that most people never get to experience in our sugar-fueled world.

Let me explain.

 

What does it mean to be fat adapted?

Being fat adapted means your body has learned how to efficiently burn fat for fuel, instead of constantly relying on glucose (sugar and carbs). When you’re fat adapted, you can go longer between meals without crashing. Your brain feels sharper. Your energy is more stable. Your cravings diminish.

But more importantly?

Your body starts to heal.

When we tap into our fat-burning pathways — especially through tools like therapeutic ketosis — we lower inflammation, reduce insulin resistance, and give our mitochondria (the energy powerhouses of our cells) a serious upgrade.

 

Why this matters — especially for women

Here’s what I see all the time:
